Job Description:

The Licensing Analyst effectively applies technical knowledge of applicable international trade laws, regulations and company policy to assist in the development of compliance risk mitigating strategies in support of company programs and international business opportunities. Other responsibilities:

  • The analyst reviews and verifies compliance with BAE Systems export/import license submittals to the U.S. Government (USG).
  • Assists in the preparation of licenses and agreements for submittal to USG in support of international trade.
  • Provides regulatory advice and guidance to BAE Systems personnel involved in Export/Import Compliance. 
  • Acts as a corporate liaison with USG regulators and technical reviewers.   
  • Provides recommendations and guidance to company personnel involved in international trade activities.

Required Skills:

  • Required education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Capable in abilities to review, edit and draft submissions of licenses/agreements to be submitted to the USG ensuring compliance with all federal export and import regulations governing trade in military, dual-use and commercial products and systems.
  • Proven ability to facilitate resolution of questions and concerns of USG regulators and technical reviewers to improve chances of a favorable outcome.
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring USG review process and progress of each submitted request.
  • Ability to monitor international trade laws and regulatory changes having implications on the company's products; services; technical information; and software and acts as a subject matter resource to all business sectors.
  • Must be personable and exhibit sound written and oral communications skills supporting functional and cross-functional collaboration with internal team members and clients.  Candidate will also assist in drafting and creating updates to Inc. level International Trade training, policies, manuals, guidelines, and instructions.
  • Must demonstrate solid knowledge and understanding of applicable U.S. federal laws and regulations governing the exporting and importing of controlled products, technology, services and software. This includes, but not limited to a practical and working knowledge of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
  • Must demonstrate flexibility and consensus building techniques to be successful at exchanging information with industry and internal professionals across all levels.
  • Must be able to provide cost-saving strategies through analysis, research, guidance, and assistance to Senior Director International Trade Licensing, Sector Export Directors, Empowered Officials, Export Control Officers, and other functional area managers throughout the company on a host of current and proposed international trade compliance matters that adds value at a return that increases operational efficiency.

Job Title: Export Control Specialist

Work Location: Fort Mill, SC

Job Description:

Schaeffler, a global automotive and industrial supplier, is seeking an Export Control Specialist for our Fort Mill, SC location. This position is responsible for ensuring legal entity compliance with applicable export control laws and regulations, import / export authorizations and permits, and corporate policies regarding export control. Assisting the Regional Export Control Manager with day-to-day activity, as well as on special projects.


Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·       Implementing and maintaining the export compliance program

·       Monitoring regulatory and agreement compliance as well as policy and procedure compliance

·       Providing export control training within the businesses

·       Advise all legal entities and operations in the Americas region on export control matters

·       Execute export control operational tasks and decisions

·       Supporting the product and technology jurisdiction and classification process

·       Applying for and / or maintaining government export authorizations

·       Conducting internal assessments

·       Attending seminars and/or training (internally and externally) as required to maintain working knowledge of all applicable export control regulations

·       Ability to travel up to 25%


Required Skills:

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant export control experience
  • Expert in US Export Control Laws and Regulations (EAR, ITAR and OFAC)

·       Ability to assess and execute tasks relevant to Export Control

·       Adequate technical acumen and experience with jurisdiction and classification analysis

·       Able to review and have a basic understanding of export control agreements, licenses / permits, and regulatory language

·       Ability to identify and assess risks and define mitigating actions

·       Ability to educate and train on export control related subjects

·       Strong analytical and organizational skills

·       Ability to work independently as well as a productive member of a team

·       Strong written & verbal communication skills

·       Experience working in an international environment supporting global operations on export control queries (especially with regards to Re-exports)

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Export Control experience in manufacturing sector
  • Knowledge of and experience with SAP GTS Export Control tool and OCR EAS
  • Adequate technical understanding and general product knowledge in relation to product classification relevant for Export Control
  • Ability to strategize and provide proposed solutions to support business plans and opportunities (e.g. foreign military sales, new product introduction, relocation of a production line)
  • OFAC and sanctions compliance experience

Job Title: Export Control Specialist

Work Location: NASA Langley, Hampton, VA

Position Overview: 

The Export Control Specialist will provide general contract administration specific to Government Contracting and regulatory compliance requirements.  This position must possess advanced knowledge and serve as the subject matter expert of the export control process and serve as an independent technical advisor to management on contracts, government compliance and general government responses as it pertains to contracts.


 Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

·       Exercise of discretion, independent judgement and analysis, the export specialist recommends a determination under what authority export controlled information or hardware may be transferred to non-U.S. person.

·       Ensure that exports and transfers of commodities, technical data, or software to foreign persons are carried out in accordance with United States export control laws and regulations, and standardized agency policy and procedures.

·       Provide substantive information needed to make a responsible export decision.

·       Examine and interpret and analyze the hardware and research papers to ensure that the proper process is followed for release to other nations and citizens of other nations.

·       Works independently, without supervision, to interpret and apply U.S. export control laws and regulations.

·       Train others in the export control regulations and serves as advisor to the agency export control program.


Required Skills:

·       Minimum High School Diploma or GED

·       Five (5) years’ experience with required training and technical educational background to make export classification determinations and application of the regulations to agency technologies as they apply to hardware, software, and technical data.

·       Although a security clearance is not required to perform in the labor category, these individuals may possess a clearance up to and including Top Secret (TS).

·       Customs Broker license is preferred.
