Job Title: Sr. Trade Compliance Specialist

General Job Description: The Senior Trade Compliance Specialist’s principal focus will be on assuring compliance with applicable import and export regulations, including, but not limited to, the ITAR and the EAR. This position will be responsible to help develop and apply corporate policies and procedures that ensure effective compliance with applicable regulatory requirements domestically and throughout the world.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct reviews of technical documentation, files and other items to assign export and HTS classifications to ensure compliance with the applicable export regulations
  • Function as Forcepoint’s designated Empowered Official in accordance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • Ensure global trade records are maintained in accordance with government and Forcepoint document retention requirements
  • Provide guidance on Automated Export system (AES) filings to ensure filings are accurate and errors are resolved
  • Identify problems, recommends solution and develop procedures to fulfill EXIM program objectives
  • Preparation and submission of license applications and commodity classifications in BIS’s SNAP system
  • Conduct periodic training with all entities and personnel involved with the export of Forcepoint products, parts and technology to ensure correct implementation of Forcepoint’s EXIM processes and compliance with all applicable U.S. and foreign regulations
  • Conduct periodic reviews to ensure ongoing compliance, identify deficiencies and recommend/implement corrective actions
  • As directed, ensure global trade records are maintained in accordance with government and internal Forcepoint document retention requirements policy
  • As directed, assess compliance processes as necessary to recommend improvements and document procedures
  • Support in-house export and import classifications
  • Provide guidance regarding compliance with export regulations that govern access to technology
  • Develop best practices and devise process innovations to improve the quality and efficiency of the Export Compliance operations
  • Monitor and evaluate implementation of import and export compliance programs at company facilities in and out of the U.S., including by conducting on-site reviews

Required Skills & Personal Characteristics:

  • Experience as, and ability to be designated Forcepoint’s, Empowered Official
  • The ability to review and correctly interpret import and export regulations
  • Familiarity with cryptography and license exception ENC requirements
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply HTS and ECCN classifications for Forcepoint products and such other commodities as the company may need to import or export
  • The process imagination to develop and oversee compliance management systems used by the supported group, in particular, and Forcepoint, in general
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn internal and externally developed ERP applications (e.g., Salesforce) and to use Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, and Internet
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn government systems used to submit classification requests, export licenses, and export declarations
  • 10+ years experience in trade compliance, including trade compliance process development and management experience in a multinational company
  • Existing or ability to develop relationships with relevant regulatory agencies
  • Ability to think strategically and find win-win solutions to issues with minimal guidance
  • Capable of multi-tasking and prioritizing with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively, within the company and the trade compliance team, as well as with external partners/peers
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
  • Capable of working independently/on own initiative as required plus demonstrated ability to make excellent judgment calls
  • International travel as required
  • Strong project management/leadership skills
